Google Search Console Can Now Track Social Media Profiles

Google Search Console has traditionally helped businesses understand how people find their websites through Google. Now, Google has expanded those insights to support social media accounts.

Google calls the new feature Platform Properties. It allows businesses and creators to add Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube accounts as individual properties in Search Console and measure how their public posts and videos perform through Google. According to Google Search Central, Platform Properties can track social and video performance across Google Search, Discover, and Google News when applicable.

For dental practices investing in social media marketing, this provides another way to understand whether their content is being discovered by potential patients beyond the social platform where it was originally published.

What Are Google Search Console Social Profiles?

When we refer to Google Search Console social profiles, we mean supported social accounts that have been added to Search Console as Platform Properties.

Each Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube account is added and reported separately. Google Search Console Help says these properties can provide information including:

  • Clicks and impressions
  • Click-through rate and average search position
  • Search queries
  • Top-performing content
  • Countries and devices
  • Recent performance trends

Discover and Google News reporting can also appear when the account’s content receives traffic from those surfaces.

This gives practices another way to understand how content across different social media platforms contributes to their visibility through Google.

Why Does This Matter for Dental Practices?

Potential patients don’t always discover a dental practice by visiting its website first.

Someone searching for information about dental implants, Invisalign, veneers, or another treatment may encounter an Instagram Reel, YouTube video, TikTok video, or X post while using Google.

With Google Search Console social media reporting, practices can identify which pieces of social content are receiving Google visibility and the search topics helping people discover them.

For example, if a video answering a common dental implant question begins generating Google impressions and clicks, that could reveal an opportunity to create additional content around the same subject.

That might include:

  • A follow-up social video
  • A patient FAQ
  • A detailed blog article
  • Additional information on a service page
  • A Reel or YouTube Short about a related question

Google specifically recommends using Platform Properties data to identify trending queries, compare content formats, cross-promote successful posts, and expand content that is gaining search traction.

Using the Data to Strengthen Your Marketing Strategy

The real value of Platform Properties is not simply having another report. The data can help inform a broader social media marketing strategy.

If a particular treatment topic, patient question, or type of video performs well through Google, that insight can help determine what content deserves more attention.

Bullseye can also connect these findings with our Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts. A topic gaining visibility through social content could potentially be expanded into an article, FAQ, or service-page improvement.

Effective social media management also involves understanding which topics and content formats resonate with an audience. Bullseye’s Social Media Management services help dental practices maintain an active social presence and connect with potential patients. Bullseye also provides blogging, SEO, and other dental marketing services, making these search insights useful across multiple parts of a practice’s digital strategy.

Does Connecting a Social Profile Improve Rankings?

Not automatically.

Google states that adding a Platform Property does not affect how the account or website performs in Google Search. Adding the property enables performance tracking; it is not a ranking mechanism.

Platform Properties also do not replace Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube analytics. Google Search Console focuses on how the content performs through Google rather than how it performs inside the social platform itself.

Want Bullseye to Connect Your Social Profiles?

If your dental practice uses Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube, Bullseye can help connect your eligible accounts to Google Search Console.

Each account must be properly authorized during setup before reporting access is available. Google supports verification through an existing website property in some cases or through direct platform authorization.

If you’d like Bullseye to connect your social profiles, please contact Bullseye Support to get the process started.

Our team can guide you through the connection process and help you begin using this new data as part of your broader digital marketing strategy.
